Abstract. The currently IT tools provides increased opportunities to organize professional and recreational activities by interactive maps easily accessible for users. An experiment was conducted understand if the great potential offered new technologies match with ability produce good quality spatial data goal assess whether their knowledge of GIS affected mapping activity online map-based survey as part on line questionnaire. attention paid university students target users these tools, considering different skills acquired during studies: from theoretical courses geography, practical (dedicated labs) GIS. involved more than 200 University Udine academic year 2019–2020.
